Why are your HVAC employees leaving you
If you run a HVAC outfit, you know all too well how difficult it is to find good people to work for you. Things get even more difficult when you loose someone.
Losing an employee can set you back significantly, especially if you have a small team, that is already stretched out to the max.
We tried looking at the other side, we wanted to listen to what employees had to say. So we conducted a survey of 150 people who worked at HVAC dealerships and switched jobs in the last 6 months, and we asked them to tell us a few reasons why they switched jobs.
Here is what the employees has to say:
Reasons for leaving | Votes | % Votes |
Low pay | 135 | 90% |
No over time pay | 96 | 64% |
No career progress | 97 | 65% |
Not being appreciated | 71 | 47% |
No scheduled pay raise | 102 | 68% |
Long working hours | 67 | 45% |
Bad supervisor | 86 | 57% |
No training | 45 | 30% |
Cramped working space | 39 | 26% |
No union | 16 | 11% |
This survey was conducted by the new management of www.HVACing.com who wanted to really wrap their minds around solving the problems of employee turnover in the HVAC industry. The best way to do this was to start paying attention to what the employees had to say.
