Employee performance: Employers need a holistic measurement tool
How can employers measure the intangibles?
Performance metrics that measure the usual competencies is a good way to go about rating employee performance. On the other hand, employers are looking to find better ways of employee measurements so that better qualified (quality) candidates can join the workforce at the outset.
Collecting metrics that measure a holistic employee contribution to organizational success means having an assessment system that collects specific data that identifies, holistically, the isolated intangibles of employee contributions. The risks of not having the specific data could be few, or many. But they are always critical. For example, not knowing the quality of service rendered by an employee can have disastrous effects (loss of customer, distorted market reputation, loss of revenue stream, loss of employee confidence because of the resulting performance review).
Speaking to Saleem Qureshi, COO at HireLabs Inc., there was a stroke of concern about all this. He was confident in his opinion that, given the cloud of economic uncertainty, he believes that the economic rebound is most definitely going to favor those who are prepared for the turnaround.
And preparation means having assessments that pursue objective performance metrics that add value to workforce development. Performance evaluations that include a comprehensive holistic view of employee performance will ensure quality hire. For overall organizational success through workforce performance measure and ongoing development to instill success behaviors on the job, a talent assessment tool must integrate into any existing or recommended talent management system.
Quality of hire is what employers are seeking. Finding niche, expanding networks, virtual teams, and strong leadership must be able to sustain growth once it is visible on the business success horizon. To do that, employers must be able to wade through a competitive business scenario comfortably. And that is possible through sourcing, identifying, and retaining the best people for the job.
The Hirelabs Holistic Profile Assessment Instrument™ is based on the original Five Factor Model [Tupes, E. C., & Christal, R. E. (1961)]. It aims to exemplify the basic global personality traits of candidates, with consistent review of their performance correlated to scores elaborated in detail in the HireLabs Instrument Report™.
The Leadership Holistic Profile Assessment Instrument™ is based on the 30-Grid Cell structure [David S. Weiss, Vince Molinaro, and Liane Davey, Wiley (October 8, 2007)]. This grid provides the basis for leaders to assess strengths in both the elements of holistic leadership and the capabilities. It can also highlight opportunities for more effective leadership, with consistent review of their performance correlated to scores elaborated in detail in the HireLabs Instrument Report™.
